📢 NEW FOR 2026–2027: Weapon Detection Systems

As part of our continued commitment to providing a safe and secure learning environment, the Millville Area School District will implement new weapon detection systems during the 2026–2027 school year.

The District has received three stationary systems and two portable systems. Stationary systems will be located at the Elementary School, High School, and District Office, while the portable systems will provide flexibility for use at entrances, athletic events, special events, and other circumstances as needed.

📅 Implementation Timeline
September 1 – Training for administrators, School Police Officers, and other appropriate personnel
September 2 – High School implementation
September 3 – Elementary School implementation

The systems will not become operational until appropriate personnel have completed vendor training.

As we begin the school year, there will be a short transition period to allow students to become familiar with school routines and for the District to communicate additional information about the screening process, including expectations for technology devices, athletic bags, personal belongings, and other items.

Weapon detection technology is one part of the District's overall approach to school safety. While no single measure can eliminate every potential risk, these systems provide an additional preventive layer intended to help reduce the likelihood of weapons entering District facilities.
