Dear Parents and Guardians,

Greetings.  The school year is off to an amazing start.  It is so very exciting to see the halls bustling with students once again.  We are looking forward to a safe and productive school year.  Partnership and communication with our families and community help us ensure that the needs of all students are well met.  

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student learning and safeguarding district resources, we are pleased to announce the implementation of the MASD Technology Insurance Program for all student-issued Chromebooks and iPads.

We recognize that technology has become an essential part of teaching and learning, and we want to ensure that students have continuous access to these tools without placing undue financial burden on families in the event of accidental damage or loss.

For the 2025-26 school year, the Millville Area School District will be implementing the Technology Insurance Program whereby interested parents and guardians may participate for a modest fee of $25 per student.  Families who complete the "Family Income Survey" which is included with the beginning of the year forms in Sapphire and meets the financial guidelines may be eligible for a reduced fee of $15 per student device for technology insurance.  

If a student device is damaged or requires replacement, the insurance will subsidize repair or replacement costs.  After a student device is damaged and necessitates repair or replacement, parents and guardians who have opted to participate in the MASD Technology Insurance Program may obtain technology insurance one additional time during the school year.  In the event that a student's device is damaged or lost for a third time, parents and guardians will be responsible for the entire repair and/or replacement costs. Lastly, if a parent or guardian purchases Technology Insurance protection for their child's district-issued device and their student's device is NOT damaged or lost during the 2025-26 school, this payment will be applied for the student's insurance for the 2026-27 school year.  However, insurance payments will not be reimbursed to families when a student withdraws from the district or graduates. 
 
Parents and guardians can access the Technology Insurance Form in the Sapphire portal.  Families must complete these forms by Wednesday, September 3, 2025.  While the district strongly encourages families to consider this opportunity, parents and guardians may elect to not participate in the Technology Insurance Program.  Families who choose not to enroll will remain responsible for the full cost of any repair or replacement should damage occur to their student's device.  

Since we are implementing new Chromebooks in the elementary school for grades 3-6, students will maintain full access to their district-provided device while in school.  However, 3-6 students will not be allowed to take their devices home until their parent or guardian completes the Technology Insurance Forms in Sapphire.  If families elect to participate in the MASD Technology Insurance Program, they should forward payment in the form of check or cash to their school's main office. All payments should be enclosed in an envelope with the student's name clearly written upon it.  

We strongly encourage families to consider opting into this program, as it provides peace of mind and helps ensure that every student maintains uninterrupted access to the technology they need for academic success.
