📵 NEW FOR 2026–2027: Electronic Devices & Cell Phone Use

The Millville Area School District Board of Education has approved a revised Electronic Devices Policy for the 2026–2027 school year. The policy will significantly restrict student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices during the school day.

🔒 Cell Phones Will Remain in Lockers

Under the revised policy, student cell phones will be required to remain in their lockers throughout the entire school day. Students will not be permitted to carry or use their phones during instructional periods, lunch, transitions between classes, or other portions of the school day.

Our goal is simple: create a learning environment where students can focus, engage, interact, and learn with fewer digital distractions.

The revised policy is designed to:

• 📚 Reduce classroom distractions and support academic integrity
• 🎯 Improve student focus and engagement in instruction
• 💬 Encourage face-to-face interaction among students
• 📱 Reduce texting, gaming, and social media use during the school day
• 🛡️ Reduce opportunities for cyberbullying and unauthorized recordings
• ✅ Reduce disciplinary concerns related to electronic devices
• 🤝 Encourage healthier social interaction during lunch and other less-structured times

🩺 Medical Exceptions

Appropriate accommodations will continue to be provided for students with documented medical needs. When access to a cell phone or connected device is medically necessary, the District will work with families through the appropriate process, including Section 504, when applicable.

We recognize that this will be an adjustment for students and families and appreciate everyone's support and cooperation as we implement these new expectations.

Additional information regarding the policy, procedures, and expectations will be shared with students and families as we begin the school year.
